Reviews
I would call this a hidden gem. It's a bit hidden and it's challenging to get to, but that gives the place a whole lot of charm and character in my book. They are obviously taking care of the natural vegetation and canopy cover as the resort is covered by old-growth trees. The service is excellent. Special shout out to Sir Vince and Sir Maurice for being very cheerful and hospitable hosts. Also to Ma'am Aedeen for recommending we upgrade our accommodations. If not for her suggestion, we would've found it really challenging to enjoy our stay. For context, we booked 2 beachfront cottages with no AC or ensuite bathroom. She recommended we upgrade to one of their family glamping tents when she saw we had 2 very young kids and 2 seniors, and I could objectively say that heeding her advice was the best decision. We do our best to not be difficult guests and all the staff make it a whole lot easier to do so. It's a truly excellent getaway.
Booked a beach cottage for an overnight stay (Christmas Eve) in agoda for a discounted price. When I reached the resort, the reception gave me a gazebo room which is a cheaper room than beach cottage as published. I insisted on cottage room but they did not give me what I booked in agoda (they gave so much Lame excuses) Reception staffs integrity, Big Question mark.
Pros: Beach is lovely
Cons: Road going to resort needs a lot of improvement. Too narrow even for Sedan. No towels provided. Breakfast included in package is disappointing. Mosquito met na butas butas. Rates and amenities; expectations not met for a 4 star resort!
This resort is a gem!! Perfect quiet cove, lush nature, super helpful and kind staff, great comfort and speedy internet in the restaurant to work remotely. Recommended 100%
Nice beach front, nice sunset view. You can appreciate how they have made the effort to preserve the environment
Rooms are very pricey though, to think many don't have their own toilet and bath. Our small group stayed in the Family Room, amenities were basic but adequate.
Food in the resto is good. Resort staff were warm, welcoming, friendly, and quick on their feet.
Overall, worth coming back to maybe another time within the year.
General review, trying to include i formation valuable for the visitors and for the management as well:
From the main route you will need to take a small route made by cement/concrete, so an SUV, a crossover or a 4x4 is recommended. I went with a crossover (not 4x4) and I didn’t have any problem (either going down or up). Near to the tents there is plenty of space for parking. If you believe the route is neither for you nor for the type of car you have, you still can visit the place. Just beside the main route they have a parking space and they have a van service that will bring you to playa la caleta (PLC), so you can park, transfer all your things from your car to the van and enjoy the ride to PLC.
The place has several family tents that I will recommend as the best option for a family trip. There are other options available, so you can check in their web page. The people is very kind, and they will make sure you feel comfortable. In our experience the aircons were not as cool as we want but with the combination of the fan, it was ok. I have been in other glamping tents and this one is quite big, so if your family is big, these tents might be good for you (max of 8 pax I believe). In glamping I prefer comfort over size, and there are opportunities of improvements in PLC tents.
The place has several things to do like a playground for kids, a small zoo, a trekking to the waterfall and of course the beach and the natural pools.
Note about the pools: pools are “natural” meaning to say they are fed by the river, so expect the water no to be crystal clear, instead assume you are in a river but in a comfortable pool form. These pools are under maintenance at the moment of this review (july 2023) and only one is active. Be in contact with this place to know more about the updates about the pools.
Note about the beach: Expect the beach to be a combination between sand and rock. While the sand is present, a very important number of rocks are also present, so bring your hawaiana or even beach shoes. Even knowing is not management fault, the presence of plastic is noticeable. Our family filled up 3 bags of garbage (mainly plastic) in just 2 days. If you are like us, bring your trash bags and help the place and the beach to be better… more than leave no trace mindset, in this case is clean the trace others left.
Note about the restaurant: the menu is available so you can ask for it and you will see what are your options. If you are pinoy I believe you will find several options for you. If you are not pinoy and you are looking for international options in the menu, they are limited. Be in contact with the place if you are following an specific diet. I will also recommend you to mention to management your desirable options from the menu before your trip, so they will have them available. In our visit some items were not available.
Hope this review help you to be prepared in advance for your vacations to this place.
While the place was quaint and calming, the road going there was extremely challenging and frankly dangerous, as the cemented road was not even wide enough to properly accommodate one car, with some areas going beside steep cliffs without and safety barricades.
Other than that, the cove itself is quite beautiful and peaceful, which I did appreciate. Despite its distance from the main road, I would say it’s worth the travel if they ever decide to place an actual road going to the cove.
It was a thrill going here as the road going here is like a roller coaster. This place offers a great cove view. The water is so clear that you can see fish swimming around. It is well lit at night so you may stroll around without worry. Their food is delicious especially the sisig. However, the downside is that when we took our breakfast, they served a lot less servings to us, Filipinos, than the foreigners. This is a special treatment which wasn't good. Their staff are also not aligned. We asked them about the island hopping feature and they said different info which made us confused. We raised these concerns and i think they made up by giving free food. All in all, this is still a great experience for me and i enjoyed my stay here.
Awesome, quiet, and very clean place. And since it's a cove, it's got nice calm water which is great for crystal kayaking and paddle boarding... Sorry surfers.
A little bit of a challenge to get to and the glamping tents get pretty hot though during the afternoon, if it's not under a shaded area. Also, no Globe signal at all in the area.
